Summer Vacation

Ah, summer vacation! Ours was busy. We journeyed through Williamsburg, Virginia Beach, Washington DC, and Radford in the course of one week.

We all had a great time! Some highlights are below. Special thanks to our various hosts who provided among other things wonderful meals, comfortable beds, interesting tours, and fun conversation.

Boston in the springtime

This weekend I flew up to Boston for my brother’s engagement party. Aside from some minor lodging and travel annoyances it was a great time.

I was good to see Jason and Katherine again. I also got to a chance to meet Katherine’s parents, her sister and brother in law and catch up with a couple of Jason’s long time friends.

Outside the party it was up to me and my parents to entertain ourselves which we were able to do quite nicely. Friday night we saw Jeff Dunham at one of the local comedy clubs and my father and I were able to catch a showing of Wicked. Both of which were very good.

The Boston weather was perfect (if a little chilly for a Charlottean) and flowers were in bloom. It was nice to be able to walk everywhere again. For all its conveniences living in the suburbs sometimes kind of sucks.

Congratulations to Jason and Katherine!

Happy Birthday Josh!

Joshua's fifth birthday was on Tuesday. We had a nice little family party at the park on Sunday.

If you look carefully you may be able to guess what I was attempting to do with the cake decoration. Special thanks to Hannah for helping with Joshua's cake!

Big News

OK, so I've fallen behind on getting stuff up here but there are a couple of things which really need to be recorded for posterity.

My brother is engaged! This happened back in January so belated congratulations. He and Katherine are going to be having an engagement party in Boston at the end of April. Hopefully Heather and I will be able to go.

I'm an uncle! Pam had her baby on February 25. Her name is Maya and Heather visited them this past weekend. She has assured me the happy (if tired) parents won't mind if I post a couple of pictures, so here they are...

Happy New Year

Happy belated New Year.

Wow. Went through all of Oct, Nov, and Dec. without a single post. It's because I'm busy I tell you, busy. :)

Heather has started working at the Children's community school in Davidson four mornings a week, which she's very excited about. Hannah and Josh will begin attending next year.

Moving on

Seems like a time of transition. In the past few weeks my brother-in-law has left his post at Harvard for a more political life in D.C. Our minister at Eastfield Presbyterian has taken a call at Topsail beach. And yesterday my brother informed me he's left C-SPAN for a gig in Richmond which appears to fit his personality and interests much better. It's getting hard to keep up but we certainly wish them all well!

Rikki, we hardly knew ye

Yesterday Rikki, Hannah's guinea pig, was laid to rest. We will miss him.
